March 5- Wigs and Wit
Tuesday night we are proud to announce a special event, only at McCurdy’s! Wigs and Wit is a spectacular stand-off between the kings and queens of local comedy that will keep you laughing all the way home! Featuring a head-to-head battle of wits between the area’s most fabulous drag queens and hilarious stand-up comics, this unique live experience is full of music, comedy and plenty of surprises. Be sure to stay til the end, when the audience votes on their favorite finalist from each category!
March 6- Carmen Ciricillo
Finding humor in the stuff that comprises the everyday is truly a gift and Carmen Ciricillo is ready to share his with you.,. Relatable, down-to-earth and oh-so-Italian, there’s something for everyone in Carmen’s show. He’s performed at Caesar’s Palace, Trump Casino, Bally’s Catch A Rising Star, Ventura Concert Theatre, Sarasota Opera House, Van Wezel, Ruth Eckerd Hall and so many more. Appearing in multiple national TV and radio spots as well, such as The Discovery Channel’s Your New House, Kia/Toyota commercials, XM/Sirius Satellite Radio, NASCAR, and Volvo Hard Hat Comedy Tour, just to name a few. Catch Carmen on McCurdy’s stage this week on Wednesday, March 6th!
March 7 & 10- Rahn Hortman
Milwaukee native Rahn Hortman, who now calls Tampa home, will be performing his crowd-pleasing repertoire of jokes based on marriage and family on Thursday and Sunday, March 7th & 10th, at McCurdy’s Theatre.
Rahn is the reigning champion of the W-MOR TV Channel 32 Comedy Challenge, and he finished first out of seven finalists in the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino Jokers Wild Contest. His reputation for clean material has allowed him to perform for church functions, private engagements and even corporate functions. He’s been seen on Nickelodeon’s Mom’s Night Out, performed at Laughfest Comedy Festival, and the Asheville Comedy Festival, just to name a few. Come out to experience Rahn Hortman this Thursday or Sunday, March 7th & 10th, at McCurdy’s!
March 8-9- Tommy Davidson
This week we’re excited to welcome comedy icon, Tommy Davidson, to the McCurdy’s stage! Tommy got his start by helping to make comedy history alongside Jamie Foxx, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and David Alan Grier as the uniquely talented cast of the most adventurous primetime variety show on television, In Living Color (1990). The iconic sketch show was recently honored with the ‘Groundbreaking Award” by TV Land and this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Tommy’s film debut started opposite Halle Berry in Strictly Business. A range of feature film roles include Spike Lee’s Bamboozled and a cameo in Jim Carrey’s Ace Ventura II: When Nature Calls. Recently, he starred in the landmark, award-winning documentary, I Am Comic, opposite Tim Allen and Lewis Black. He also stars in the feature documentary, Dying Laughing, alongside Jamie Foxx, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman.
Tommy’s hilarious impressions of Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson and other icons have become infamous. His visibility on In Living Color led to three Showtime specials: On Strength of New York, Illin’ in Philly and Takin’ it to DC. Tommy is the host and star of Showtime’s Chocolate Sundaes special (eOne), one of eOne Film’s best sellers.
TV credits include recent guest starring roles on BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood, opposite Kevin Hart and Nick Cannon, and Celebrity Wife Swap. As a voice artist, Tommy stars in Will Smith’s animated series, Youngin’s, Disney’s animated series, The Proud Family, and alongside Michael Jai White in the spoof comedy, Black Dynamite (Adult Swim) as the character ‘Cream Corn.’
