It’s A Southern Thing

McCurdy’s is so excited to host our first musical event TONIGHT, April 1st! Twinkle performs to introduce her newest album, right here in our own intimate theatre. A true Tampa Bay Treasure, Twinkle grew up around the music industry, since her father worked with the Allman Brothers Band. She has recorded and performed with Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Dicky Betts, Sheryl Crow, and Quincy Jones. She has toured internationally on her own and with Dicky Betts. Come out and experience Twinkle and Rock Soul Radio TONIGHT at McCurdy’s first musical event!

Later this week, we welcome Vic Henley to the stage. Born and raised in Alabama, Vic has been in the business for 30+ years and he has done it all. Besides co-authoring his national best-selling book with fellow comedian Jeff Foxworthy, Vic has appeared on HBO, CBS, NBC, FOX, BRAVO, CMT, MTV, A&E, The History Channel and just about every other stand-up comedy show on television. He was a VH-1 VJ, has his own Comedy Central half-hour special, and has appeared on The Late Show and The Tonight Show. With an easy style that covers a variety of topics, Vic has also been featured on nationally syndicated radio shows as well as several channels on Sirius/XM satellite radio.

As a southern story-teller, Vic drives home the point that you can make fun of the South when you’re from there… and there’s always someone dumber than you to make fun of. Usually they’re from South Carolina or Tennessee. Between Hee-Haw, overalls, the Dukes of Hazzard, and all the other southern stereotypes the South has brought on itself, there’s no lack of funny material to drive Vic’s show.

According to the London Times, Vic has an innate ability to turn perfectly reasonable adults into guffawing idiots, making him a crowd favorite all over the world. Whether it’s Montreal’s Just for Laughs Comedy Festival, or the granddaddy of them all, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, Henley continues to draw rave reviews and pack houses. His success at Edinburgh led to a slew of BBC TV appearances on stand up and talk shows, some where he was the first American to perform.

Vic has also performed on over 500 college campuses in all 50 states, receiving 8 “Comedian of the Year” nominations. His popularity in the corporate, performing arts and associations markets has landed him many high profile gigs including co-hosting an event with former president George H.W. Bush. He has also been able to combine his writing and performing skills in feature films including Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno.

Vic resides in New York City and can be seen regularly on numerous stages all over town including Gotham Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar, Comic Strip Live, New York Comedy Club and Dangerfield’s.

See him this week on our very own stage at McCurdy’s, April 3-7 and experience the South in a way you never have!
