Hold My Beer

You know you’ve encountered a truly funny person when they have the ability to step away from the script, interact with the crowd, and go rogue while heckling the audience or joking with them about something unpredictable. McCurdy’s upcoming headliner, Al Romas, is exactly this kind of person. A natural-born comedian, Al has seen it all, heard it all, and doesn’t bat an eye when faced with a comedic challenge. Whether he’s performing for a 1,000 seat sold-out theater or a 100-person bar, he finds a way to connect with each audience in a casual way without missing a beat.

Al got his start while serving in the Navy, doing open-mic nights in Norfolk and Virginia Beach for rowdy college students and rowdier sailors. He quickly learned that different audiences require different skill sets. The challenge of employing those skills is what keeps Al pursuing the dream- and keeps audiences coming back for more. Beyond headlining major comedy clubs across the nation and having regular spots on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Al has been seen in and on some high profile stages, including Radio City Music Hall, MTV’s Half Hour Comedy Hour, ESPN’s ESPY awards, Standup Spotlight, A&E’s Evening at the Improv, Comedy Central’s Short Attention Span Theater, and Las Vegas. He currently hosts a daily spot on Sirius XM radio, RawDog Comedy (channel 99).

Beyond the traditional stand-up comedy gigs, Al writes and co-stars in a web series with fellow comedian Al Ducharme called The Two Dicks, a show about two moronic 1954 detectives. The two comedians were recently featured in the magazine, Cigar Aficionado. Catch the show on FunnyorDie, Facebook or YouTube. Al even found time in his busy schedule to put pen to paper and chronicle his life as a comedian in the autobiography, How About A Hand For The Last Guy.

Un-ruffled and unflappable from years of experience, Al Romas’ “hold my beer” vibe will make you lean in with baited breath, waiting for the next joke, knowing it will be better than the last. Just don’t try to heckle him unless you’re willing to take a larger does of what you’re dishing out. Catch the natural talent and very funny comedy of Al Romas this week, September 4-8, only at McCurdy’s Comedy Club!
