Mike Rivera Feb. 12-13 & 16
Teaching is a thankless calling and a serious profession… unless you’re actually in the business. Then you realize how much comedic material can be gleaned every day in the classroom. Mike Rivera cashed in on this gold mine of material when he became America’s Funniest Teacher on The View.
Between the crazy excuses from students, ridiculous requests from parents and insane statements that fly out of his mouth once in a while, a classroom is a hot-bed of funny just waiting to be spotlighted. Mike does this perfectly with well-timed material and killer punch lines that might just make you want to head back to middle school one more time!
With three decades of experience on stage, Mike has performed for audiences across the nation, his favorite still being his own classroom. Mike’s book From Stand-Up Comedian to Stand-Up Teacher is on sale now on Amazon. He says that teaching and stand-up comedy aren’t much different, since you must connect with your audience in both cases… only with teaching, the rewards continue long after the laughter stops. Ryan Hamilton Feb. 14-15
Fresh from rural Idaho to the comedic scenes of New York City, this one-of-a-kind comedian has recently released his first stand-up special. Happy Face is a one-hour special available on Netflix and sure to keep you cracking up. Ryan has been praised by the New York Times as “an observational comic who often riffs on the absurdity of his own wholesomeness.” With a sweetness and sincerity that will disarm you before delivering a spot-on punchline, Ryan is taking comedy stages by storm. Be one of the first to spread the news about this up-and-coming comedian when you catch him this Friday and Saturday, February 14 & 15 at McCurdy’s!
Open Mic Night Feb. 12
On Wednesday evening, be sure to stick around in our Green Room Lounge after Mike’s show for our Open Mic Night. Beginning at 9pm, this show features 10 amateur comedians performing 5 minute sets. Some professionals even stop by occasionally to work on new material. This is a great chance to see raw talent in its early stages! There’s no cover or minimum purchase, but audience members must be 18 with a valid picture ID.
Black Diamond Burlesque Valentines Show Feb. 16
Give your sweetheart a surprise they’ll remember this Valentine’s Day! Sarasota’s premiere burlesque review is back and ready for Valentine’s Day! This vintage cabaret show has been wowing audiences since 2010 with an all-star cast of burlesque beauties, sultry singers and wild vaudeville acts. Come out and enjoy and evening of striptease, feats of daring, music and tons of sparkle. There’s nothing quite like the Black Diamond Burlesque Show– experience this luminous live show Sunday evening at McCurdy’s!

Bobby Collins: After opening for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Cher, Julio Iglesias, Tony Bennett and Dolly Parton, it’s a real treat to have Bobby Collins return to the McCurdy’s stage. Bringing his razor-sharp wit and apt observances of the human condition to a point of hilarity, Bobby Collins will be the highlight of your week.
Steve O: With a background in stunt training thanks to a detour between college and adulting via the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Clown Circus, Steve O got his start with MTV’s hit stunt-reality TV show Jackass. Find out what makes this physical comedian such a riot when you check him out at McCurdy’s this spring!
Pauly Shore Mar. 26: After his rise to fame in the 1990s as a major film and TV comedian, Pauly Shore is now reflecting on life growing up at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood. His autobiographical documentary will cover his life in the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. Come out and see what made Pauly a hit in the 90s and keeps audiences coming back for more today when he returns to the McCurdy’s stage in March!
Off The Clock Interview Feb. 13
If you stop by on Thursday evening, you’ll enjoy a bonus treat when Les McCurdy joins the comedians on-stage for our Off The Clock interview. This 15-20 minute interview with the comedians is a great way for audience members to get to know them more personally. There’s also a Q & A portion with the audience, so bring your questions about who they are, where they come from and how they got started in comedy!
