Down Under

Everyone has a twin somewhere in the world. For Ryan Gosling, this individual hails from Australia and is making waves across the U.S. with his talent. Monty Franklin brings a fresh spin to the comedy scene as he currently tours the country, opening for Saturday Night Live veteran Rob Schneider and appearing in Rob’s new show, Real Rob on Netflix. Monty’s has had roles on The New Girl (FOX), Becoming Bond (Hulu), and is the creator and star of The Manny (TV Pilot). With numerous television stand-up performances in the U.S. and Australia, sold-out performances at comedy festivals and even some short films produced and featured in festivals world-wide, Monty is now based in Los Angeles. He performs all over the world with Rob Schneider and headlines some of the most sought-after comedy clubs in the world, including The Improv Comedy Clubs, The Laugh Factory, and The Comedy Story in Hollywood, where he is in the company of comedy greats like Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, and Steve Martin. He is honored to be the first Australian on the wall.

With a natural, relaxed wit that highlights the idiosyncrasies of American accents, men and women, dating and everything in between, Monty bridges the cultural gap to help audiences realize that we’re all basically the same, cut from the same cloth and working through the same issues no matter where we’re from. Monty tells stories that will make you point to your significant other or just laugh out loud at the reality of his observations.

Monty is set to begin filming his first feature film in Australia soon, which he co-wrote with Rob Schneider. His debut comedy album “Something Will Happen” was just released in September 2018 and available here for download.

Be sure to catch Monty Franklin at McCurdy’s Theatre this week from January 17-20 and enjoy the experience of this on-fire comedian who is taking the entertainment scene by storm!
